Set up a Custom Proxy for LinkedIn

This article provides a friendly, step-by-step guide to setting up and managing a custom proxy for Meet Alfred’s LinkedIn automation platform. It explains what a custom proxy is, why you might want to use one, and outlines the entire setup process

What’s a Custom Proxy?

A custom proxy lets you route your Meet Alfred LinkedIn automation through a specific proxy server, rather than using our default system option. In simple terms, it’s like choosing your own secure path for LinkedIn actions!

Once set up, your proxy manages your connection’s location, making your experience more secure and reliable. You won’t need to pick a country manually; Meet Alfred handles it for you!

How do I set up a custom proxy?

Don’t worry, it’s simple! Just follow these steps:

1. Open the Setup Form

Go to your LinkedIn Integrations and click the Setup button under the Proxy Setting section.

2. Enter Your Details

Fill in all the required fields (these can’t be left blank):

  • Name (optional): Give your proxy a label you’ll remember.

  • Username & Password: Enter your proxy login details.

  • Domain & Port: Type in the address and port for your proxy server.

📌 Tip: As you fill things in, you’ll see a Preview section that shows your proxy URL for double-checking everything looks right!

3. Save and Validate

  • Click Save. Meet Alfred will do a quick check (using a third-party tool) to make sure your proxy works.

  • If there’s already a proxy in your account with the same domain and username, you’ll need to use a different combination.

  • Ensure the proxy is valid. You cannot save a proxy if one with the exact same domain and username already exists in your database.

4. Activate the Proxy (Crucial Step):

Once you see the notification that the proxy has been successfully saved, there’s one last important below.

5. Reconnect your LinkedIn account to activate the proxy.

Managing Your Custom Proxy

After saving, you’ll see Edit and Remove buttons alongside your proxy details.

🔵 Editing Settings

If you’d like to update the “Name (just for you),” your change will save instantly and won’t interrupt anything. If you need to tweak other details (like domain or port), you’ll be asked to confirm, and you’ll need to reconnect your LinkedIn account to apply the new settings.

🔵 Removing the Proxy

If you decide to remove your custom proxy, a quick confirmation window will remind you to reconnect your LinkedIn account. After you reconnect, Meet Alfred will automatically switch you back to the standard system proxy.

Good to know: Removing your LinkedIn account doesn’t erase your custom proxy settings—they’re managed separately.

Troubleshooting & Common Errors

1. Validation Error

If your proxy doesn’t pass the first check, an error message will check your address and credentials just in case there’s a typo.

2. Connection Blocked

If Meet Alfred’s cloud bot tries to connect but runs into trouble (maybe your proxy is flagged, incompatible, or not whitelisted by LinkedIn).

You’ll see an error message directly in your LinkedIn Integrations stating:

"Your request was rejected by Linkedin server. This is likely because the proxy IP address has been flagged or is not whitelisted by Linkedin."

3. How to Clear Errors

If you ever see a proxy error, keep in mind the cloud bot remembers that error state. Editing the proxy details won’t clear it, and the only way to reset the cloud bot's memory and clear the error is to fully reconnect your LinkedIn account.
