This guide will walk you through how to securely connect your Gmail account to Meet Alfred using SMTP and IMAP settings. (White Label or Email Integration)

Step 1: 🔐 Enable 2-Step Verification your Google Account (Required for App Passwords)

⚠️ Before you can set up SMTP with Gmail, you must turn on 2-Step Verification in your Google account. This is required by Google in order to generate an app password.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Go to your Google Account
    👉 myaccount.google.com/security

  2. In the Security tab, scroll down to the “How you sign in to Google” section

  3. Click 2-Step Verification and follow the steps to turn it on

    • You’ll be asked to verify your identity

    • Then, choose how you’d like to receive codes (e.g., phone number or Google Authenticator)

  4. Once it’s enabled, you’ll see a green checkmark and a new option called App Passwords

✅ You can now move on to the next step.

Step 2: Generate an App Password

  1. In the same 2-Step Verification section, click on App passwords

  2. Select Mail as the app and Other (Custom name) for the device (e.g., “Meet Alfred”)

  3. Click Generate

  4. Copy the 16-character app password shown (no spaces)

  5. Click Done

📌 Keep this password handy—you’ll need it when entering your SMTP/IMAP details in Meet Alfred.

Step 3: IMAP Is Already Enabled (No Action Needed)

As of January 2025, Google has removed the option to enable or disable IMAP.
IMAP is now always on by default, and your existing connections are not affected.
You can skip this step and continue to the SMTP setup below.

Step 4: Add Your Email Settings in Meet Alfred

Once you’ve generated your app password or retrieved your provider’s SMTP/IMAP credentials, it’s time to connect your email to Meet Alfred.

You can do this in either of these locations, depending on your use case:

  • For White Label users: Go to Settings > White Label > Custom Email

  • For Campaign Automation (general email provider connection): Go to Settings > Integrations > Email
